Join in a momentous evening as the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation (GGHF) and Uptown Gig Harbor host a locally sourced, gourmet “Black & White” dinner, raising funds for local agencies working to address food insecurities within the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula community. Hunger in our community is a significant problem. An average of 30% of youth enrolled in our Peninsula schools come from families who meet federal criteria for free or reduced lunches. For many, these are the only meals they receive with any regularity. The translation? About 2,300 children (1 in 4) and 1 in 7 adults across our community struggle with hunger.
Since 2016 GGHF has actively worked through the GGHF Social Capital Core Area Board on #Community Harvest, Gig Harbor Thanksgiving Basket Brigade and other one-off events, to help address local food insecurities. Through these events, direct delivery meals, thanksgiving baskets, and other nutrition focused programs, GGHF has raised and directed more than $2 million to area food banks over the course of this time. Help us continue this impact.
