PRIDE Gig Harbor is building an inclusive event, “Pride in the Park”, to raise awareness, actively support and empower the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula LGBTQ+ community. We will create a safe space for all filled with advocacy, respect, education and compassion.
We invite you to the first annual “Pride in the Park” on Saturday, June 24th at Skansie Brothers Park in Gig Harbor, WA. Bring your friends, family and neighbors to enjoy yummy food, marvelous music, local vendors and more from 12 PM until 3 PM!!
Derek Sheffield & Kevin Miller meet & greet signing
After you've enjoyed the Maritime Festival, come by the bookshop to meet Derek Sheffield (editor) and Kevin Miller (contributor) and chat with them about Cascadia Field Guide, a literary anthology that celebrates the Cascadia bioregion.
The book sold out at the Seattle Town Hall event, so we do recommend preorders to help us ensure we have enough copies on hand for everyone.
Author Matt Kracht talk & book signing
Matt Kracht is best known as the cantankerous, bird-loathing author of bestsellers, THE FIELD GUIDE TO DUMB BIRDS OF NORTH AMERICA and THE FIELD GUIDE TO DUMB BIRDS OF THE WHOLE STUPID WORLD. One might assume that Kracht finds bees to be another detestable flying nuisance, but that can’t be further from the truth.
Come to Invitation Bookshop to hear Matt talk about his new book OMFG, BEES! BEES ARE SO AMAZING AND YOU'RE ABOUT TO FIND OUT WHY.
This is not a ticketed event, but we recommend visiting invitationbookshop.com/events to reserve your seat as space may be limited. Matt will be signing books at the event.

We will also be monitoring the number of customers entering and exiting the Market to stay within onsite attendance guidelines and utilizing a one-way traffic pattern. At this time, masks will be required for entry into the market and social distancing will continue to be necessary.
For the time being, the Market will not have live entertainment, product sampling, or cooking demos. We will still be bringing you the freshest fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, artisan breads, flowers, locally made food products, soaps and sanitizers, and prepared food to-go.

The Cause. The Beneficiaries.
Hunger is a significant issue in our community. An average of 30% of youth enrolled in our schools (about 2,300 children - or 1 in 4) come from families who meet federal criteria for free or reduced lunch programs. For many, these are the only meals they receive with any regularity. And, 1 in 7 adults, primarily seniors, across our community struggle with hunger. Representationally, across all age groups, nearly 25% of our population live in households that struggle against food insecurity, or lack of access to an affordable, nutritious diet – more than double the national average!
Since 2012, GGHF has provided more than 117 tons of food and funding, totaling more than $1-million in support, to area organizations working to eliminate food insecurity. Help us continue this impact!
Every dollar raised through The Community Table dinner equals about 5 pounds of food that will help stock the shelves of our local food banks for nearly 6 months – those months when need is at its greatest (late-Spring to Fall). Hunger doesn't take a Summer vacation.
